Terri Edinburgh has over 24 years experience in the field of Special Education and more then 35 years working with children and youth.
A Special Education teacher for the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE), Terri works in a K – 6th grade Special Day Classroom (SDC) with students with severe disabilities. Specially trained in gross motor and fine motor skill development, communication and vision needs, technology, and activities of daily living skill development, she oversees the educational programs of her students. As a MIT (MOVE International Trainer), Terri not only implements the program in her classroom, but also serves as one of SCOE’s many MIT trainers and classroom consultant for other teachers. Terri has also served on SCOE’s Advisory Council, helping to improve upon SCOE’s Special Education Department. In working with children and youth over the years, Terri has served as a Sunday school teacher for her church, a tutor in reading, writing, and math, a volunteer for the Special Olympics, a mentor for the Big Brother Big Sisters of America Organization, team mom, event coordinator and fundraiser for more sporting events then she can count.
Terri holds a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching Specialization in Special Education, Master of Arts Degree in Education Administration, a Clear Level II Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Moderate/Severe Disabilities, a Certified MOVE International Trainer, CLAD Certificate, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation/Rehabilitation Therapy. Various other trainings/workshops/inservices, etc., has allowed her to hone her skills in behaviors and behavior management, communication, and feeding. Her continued hard work over the years has paid off, having been recognized as SCOE’s 2013 Teacher of the Year, SCOE’s Employee of the Month in 2011 and 2004, and several others awards and certificates.
Terri continues to let her passion for working with her students drive her to be the best teacher she can be. She believes that every child can learn, and that every child deserves an opportunity to learn.
